Re: French: your favourite TV shows
I really liked Les Témoins (The Witnesses in English Netflix), a police show that I binged in a week. It's not fast-paced but it drew me in almost immediately, and in some ways it reminded me of Broadchurch. There are strong emotional undertones which made it all the better.

Re: French: your favourite TV shows
Lots of good watching ideas here. I concur wiith jeffers on Les petites meurtres d’Agatha Christie. The series is excellent. I’ve watched all 3 seasons that I could get on dvd.
Recently I’ve been watching these two.
Un gars une fille - The French version by Productions 22. Good stuff. I might watch the Québécois original version later on to see how it stacks up (and if I can understand it)
Plus belle la vie - Addictive soap. Working my way through season 1.

Re: French: your favourite TV shows
If you are a fan of old American shows like "Saved by the Bell", you may like this old French show called Hélène et Les Garçons".
It's supper French, a bit cheesy, but great for listening to normal conversation. Each episode is about 20 minutes.
Also, all the episodes are now available on Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uAZ8S8Y3614
Enjoy!

Re: French: your favourite TV shows
We just finished Baron Noir (2 seasons, not sure if season 2 is already available in stores outside France though), which in my opinion is far better than Marseille. Starring Kad Merad and Hugo Becker (yep, the one from Au service de la France).
The language level is fairly advanced, even with C1 level you can profit a lot from this series. Plus: the script is available as a book and for Kindle.
And for all the fans of Au service de la France: The next season starts next week!

Arte! https://www.arte.tv/fr/videos/069802-001-A/au-service-de-la-france-saison-2-1-12/ Tax money at work
However, I'm confident it will be aired on Netflix as well, maybe with a bit of delay though.

Re: French: your favourite TV shows
I really enjoyed Dix pour cent ("Call My Agent!" on Netflix) and Le bureau des légendes ("The Bureau" on Sundance). A few others that I liked:
Les revenants ("The Returned" on Netflix) - the dead come back to life, and don't know that they're dead.
Ainsi soient-ils ("The Churchmen" on Netflix) - drama about students at a seminary. The first season was strong, though I thought it started to drift by the third.
Kaamelott - A comedy about life in King Arthur's court.
The complete series now appears to be on YouTube, with English subtitles. Cuillère!

Hey rdearman, thanks for directing me to Valérian et Laureline - the whole series has now been put up on YouTube in full with really good subtitles - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTbN5f ... LhkjGgXb2w. Gonna take me a while to get through these...
