I was wondering if someone could tell me what type of Spanish accent this reader has? I just want to get a sense if this is somewhat "mainstream" for Latin America or one of the more out of the ordinary accents. I also would like to have a sense if the narration is rather "natural" sounding or heavily formal in some manner. Here are two samples. One is from a more poetic genre and the other is a narrative type of genre. My main reason for asking it that I'd like to get a sense of how weird I'd end up sounding if I used this type of intonation and pronunciation as a basis to work from. Thanks.

As an FYI, this is from biblegateway.com which has a number of free audio bibles on line. Not everyone's cup of tea, but a number of different languages and translations of the same material are available.

Any biblical narrator would tend to sound formal. Poetry always has a specific type of narrative intonation particular to the genre.

Very formal Latin American Spanish--a neutral, ominous flavour of it in the Luke sample. The poetic sample from the Psalms used a bit of a strange but emotional intonation.

I cannot place the accent, but it is pretty strong in that Psalms reading. He certainly does not have a neutral accent. If you are looking for a voice to copy try Raul Amundaray. He is the narrator of the da Vinci Code audio book and is awesome. I'd love to sound like him.

The narrator seems to be this guy (father of US senator Ted Cruz):
"Rafael Cruz was born in Cuba; he fled that country and immigrated to the U.S over 50 years ago, in search of freedom. He has been sharing the Word of God worldwide in churches for over thirty years. He is currently the Director of Purifying Fire Ministries. He is also a professor of Bible and Theology at Advance Bible Institute and he has translated many Christian books from English to Spanish.
