Very excited to be here. I'll cut right to it, I'm about to go backpacking through France and Spain and wanted to get accurate translations for a growing list of phrases I'm compiling. These will be from normal daily things to emergencies.
My language history: three years of high school french (really don't remember much, some vocab, pronouns and usage, some sentence structure) and Mandarin in college (similar current comprehension, probably less so).
EDIT: Ok here's the list. This is very off the cuff, there are things in here that could be percieved as repeats or being redundant, I'm just trying to account for various ways things can be said/implied. There are also a couple phrases people might say back to me. I don't have a deep knowledge of various subtle cultural norms in language. Ex. Saying 'sorry' in English can be used as an apology, or a way of saying 'excuse me'. Does this translate in French or Spanish? Also, I'm going to hitchhike! So there are a couple phrases regarding that!
'***' means blank space/insert whatever noun or part of speech I'm trying to communicate at the time. Again this list is not exhaustive and very stream of conscience and out of order so anything you think would be helpful please let me know!
