A question for folks who use subs2srs/substudy for TV shows or movies: Do you watch it straight through normally once, then make cards to review? Or do you prepare by learning the cards, then watch it afterward?
I can see advantages to each order. I'm thinking I might watch first for my stronger language, and study first for my weaker languages.
Watch show, then subs2srs/substudy? Or vice versa?

If you're a beginner, I'd suggest learning the vocabulary first, and then watch it. If you're at a more advanced level, I'd say watch it first, then check the words you didn't understand.

well I don't generate sub2srs cards for every single line of dialogue in the show so I watch first and write down words in lines that I want to generate a sub2srs card for then run sub2srs using the list of words/phrases. AND I also generate audio files using sub2srs so I can relisten to the episode "efficiently."

I suggest you watch the show.
Complete the deck
Watch the show again.

I watch the show first. Then subs2srs. Then listen to an audio rip of the show in the car multiple times over an extended period.
I have considered doing the cards first but have never got around to it. I have this vague feeling that it would be hard to follow the plot doing it that way - stretching the show over an extended period and mixing in the reviews.

Anything which is out of context is best saved till later. That's why I generally don't download Anki decks which someone else has put together. Content which I've seen before and added myself is more likely to stick, since I'm reviewing it instead of learning it.
