I'm not sure how that would help with spontaneous discourse which is what I need to work on. I mean unless I recorded myself speaking in German and then transcribed it but that is not a thing I'm willing to do for a handful of logical reasons. Also as I said in my origional post, I am in the ideal situation where I have someone who is more than willing to correct my writing (my tutor).

i shadow/read out loud/imitate native materials and so i would never go to say 'il faut que je vais' because it sounds horrific. I don't know what subjunctive is really but i just know that 'il faut que j'aille' will come out of my mouth. It just happens normally and because of all the shadowing i know it's right because my mouth physically remembers the movements necessary to produce the sentence i need


Yes, I use the same method and I think it is one of the best technique to speak foreign language fluently.
