And also except that a Spanish speaker is more likely to say "la película" or even "la peli"

I'm fully aware that la película and la peli are the most common forms in Spain but when I was writing my post I didn't feel like switching my keyboard to Spanish, and, what the heck "el filme" is perfectly good Spanish, que yo sepa.
