Either that or there's already a virus on the system screwing things up. Hopefully it's the former though.
I'm not overly familiar with Avast, but you should be able to get it to unblock the install and whatever file it thinks is a virus. I'm just not sure how.
EDIT: I basically used the link you had initially posted in the thread, and from there clicked "apps free". The English version of coldrainwater's link above.

Yes, I don´t use AVAST with Linux, but as I recall, you can open AVAST and turn it off temporarily to download something, then turn it back on again.

Additionally, as it might be possible for the program to block the file once it's turned on again, you should be able to "exclude" whatever file it's blocking if necessary. I usually don't recommend doing this, but in this particular case, it seems to be a false positive based on my Anti-Virus not raising as red flags for me.

I am not qualified to get into a discussion of false positives with my AVP. I am just going to move on with other options available.

That's perfectly fine.

I just wanted to point out that there are usually options within Anti-Virus programs that can unblock specific files that are blocked by the Anti-Virus. Of course you'd have to know what file, and how to unblock it. Unfortunately, I only know how to do that with Norton.

However, all of that is secondary to just trying to redownload and install with Avast auto protect turned off (temporarily, of course). If Avast were still determining a file is a "virus" after turning it back on, then you'd try to unblock it. Sorry, that probably wasn't clear before

If you don't know how to pause (sometimes called "turn off") auto protect, then yeah. You can just use the website if you're ok with that. Again, I'm sorry to say I only know how it works with my Anti-Virus program at the moment.

EDIT: A quick websearch gave me these steps from the Avast website on how to turn off Auto protect (in their case "active protection"): https://www.avast.com/program/api/?acti ... =0&p_wnf=0
