I came across a book of Spanish idioms published in 1928. My first assumption was that a book that old would be full of the Spanish equivalents of "By Jove" and "Isn't this a fine howdy-do". But it turns out to be far more granular and relevant than my initial misapprehension.
These are the basic building blocks of Spanish. I would argue that this book is at least as valuable as a frequency dictionary, and that these idioms should be learned along with the first 2,000 words of the language.
The complete book is public domain and you can read it for free at:

After some cut-and-paste and spreadsheet magic, I managed to turn Part A of the book into a .csv file that I'm sharing as a Google Sheet:

I've also uploaded that sheet to Ankiweb as a shared deck:

Please let me know if you spot any mistakes or outdated language. Some of the English translations are just ever so slightly dated, which gives me concern about some of the Spanish being similarly outdated. But I would estimate that 95% of it is still extremely relevant and necessary.
Once I've learned all 780+ items in this sheet, I may go back and Ankify the rest of the book, and maybe add some of the idioms I am collecting in the wild myself.
