Translation Cubed: A 3-level translation-based methodology (David Allen Martin II - Poliglotar 2021)

a mixture of listening-reading, Birkenbihl literal + normal translation, reverse translation for beginners
there is also a special app, which is not public yet

My Translation³ web tool does exactly that: It first translates any foreign language text idiomatically (Level 1) and literally (Level 2) into the native language of the learner, so that the text can be instantly understood even by a complete beginner. As a result, learners can choose content based on their interests and preferences from Day 1 rather than being restricted by their current level of proficiency.

In a second step (Level 3), the learner then actively translates the Level 2 word-for-word translation from their native language BACK into the foreign language to practice output (speaking & writing) in a controlled syntactical environment, thus significantly improving learners’ intuitive grammar competence without them having to learn explicit grammar rules. I call this last step Active Reverse Translation, or A.R.T.
