what does B1.2 Level mean?

Postby jimmy » Fri Jul 30, 2021 6:23 pm

hi,

I tried to test (online) my Arabic language level (to give an approximate idea to me) on this website: https://testyourlanguage.com/
I ask to whom know this website whether the score is reliable and some information about the result.
The test lasted approximately about 1 hour or more and it shows B1.2. (it tried to test almost all of skills (i.e. reading, writing, listening))
(it also shows a message: You can understand the main points of a conversation (about work, school, leisure, during travels, etc.) You can produce simple, connected text. You can describe experiences and produce explanations for opinions and plans.)
can I understand this B1 high of A1 ,A2 ,B1 (B1.1,B1.2) B2 ,C1 ,C2?

or something else?
any help will be apprecaited.
thanks.

mmm , I found this : https://testyourlanguage.com/cefr-actfl
and it presumably divides B1 level to three sublevel. (B1.1,B1.2, and B1.3) not just B1.1 and B1.2.
and I am At B1.2 :)

A personalized opinion: to this test, I think more properly I could be B1.3. because at last and long questions something that distracted me happened. (unfortunately). all in all i think I should be hopeful.

Apparently some classes are broken down in CEFR sublevels and the test maker wants to help you make a good choice.

Did you have to cough up an email address or are they kind enough to give results to "anonymous" users?

hi luke,

thank you for your message. Yes,I had to provide an e-mail. I gave my original adress meanwhile.
From your comment I presume that I would take some e-mails in the future. (means spam)
yes,I do not enjoy that but I had been really curious about the test after 1 hour exam.
I will try official exam here in Turkey but they do not test other skills (listening, writing and speaking)
but as I have no problem with pronunciation and reading (also writing), I think those skills will be automatically tested by that official exam.

I think you would be better off testing yourself here: https://oda.dliflc.edu Associated with the USA department of defence. Although the scores are not in the European CEFR levels they are Interagency Language Roundtable (ILR) level, but you can look up the equivalents on Wikipedia.

Hi once again,
yes ,the website is reachable. But my mother says that she would like to sleep,so we sleep. rdearman,I hope you will remember that point that I need someone in my room for sleeping. :)
This means I will take the test tomorrow if possible.
meanwhile, do I have a chance to hear the response for my question whether that website offers free test? (or will I need to make payment?)
and if possible could you make an explanation for my this last question:
is to take test on that website secure?

Kind Regards
jimmy

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

And I will "second" using this link. That's the site we use when we're preparing for our DLPTs.
