*I wasn't sure which sub-forum to make this post in*
Is there any free program out there where you can load up an SRT and have it convert into a file where timestamps and other unnecessary symbols are stripped out and you're left with text?
This could save so much time if one wanted to make their own parallel texts out of subtitles from movies or TV episodes (or youtube videos for that matter).
Converting subtitle to file to regular document?

Subtitle Edit is a free windows program that will do that and much more for you.
If you don’t have a windows machine there is a stripped down online version of the program at https://www.nikse.dk/subtitleedit/online#
I’m pretty sure that will do the job too. Export as plain text.
Note that the online version also does translations which you may be interested in when making texts.
Theoretically the stand alone program does, too but that has stopped working for me. I think you have to buy a google API key, now. Whatever that means.

You can also align text and translation interlinearly not bidirectionally, if you want.
