Downloading YouTube Videos to Your Computer?

Postby Speakeasy » Thu Sep 17, 2015 5:13 pm

I am looking for advice on software for Downloading YouTube Videos to my computer. I am particularly interested in downloading some language-learning materials. Can anyone recommend a product that is reliable, easy-to-use, and that is not delivered with Spyware, Malware, Trojan Horses, and other Free cr@p. I'm quite willing to pay for the software, I just want it to work and to be free of pollution. A Google search yields the following: https://www.google.ca/search?q=how+to+d ... r+computer Is there anything here that looks interesting or do you have other suggestions? Merci à l'avance!

What browser are you using? The best thing to do is install an extension which adds a download button directly onto youtube pages. I use Youtube Center, but it adds a bunch of other stuff as well (not adware or anything, just useful extra youtube features) so it might not be your thing, but there's other extensions that just add a download button and nothing else.

I have the Firefox browser and use the "Flash Video Downloader" add-on. Works great!

Nothing is installed. Just creates the file and you download that.

I use Safari and I also use the Click to Flash extension. It means that all I have to do to download YouTube videos is right click. Highly recommended.

I've used the Filefox extension already mentioned and 4k Video Downloader (https://www.4kdownload.com/es/products/ ... downloader). Nowadays I'm using Freemake Video Downloader (http://www.freemake.com/es/free_video_downloader/). Just click "no" if they offer something else besides the program when you're installing it.

The Youtube MP3 Podcaster Firefox extension is also worth mentioning, just in case you want to download audio only. It works better than anything else I have already tried.

youtube-dl works if you are comfortable using the command line.

I also use 4k Download, not only will it download videos, it'll also download just the audio as an mp3 or it can embed the subtitles into the video file. It's pretty simple to use and is cross platform.
