As an aside, when I read the question concerning which Browser I use, I nearly panicked ... a Browser, what's a Browser, am I supposed to know that? Sorry, but I am very much a woeful Techno-Peasant!

I also use Flash and Video Download in the Firefox browser. I am on Linux (Lubuntu) but I guess it will work on any platform. It sometimes gives you the choice of several formats but if high definition is not needed I usually go with the smallest file size to both save space and time.
