Help Ani buy Japanese knives

Postby Ani » Sat Sep 14, 2019 5:54 pm

Hi guys!

I have a knife that my brother brought back from Japan some years ago. My dad would like to buy more of them.

I do know a Japanese knife seller near me who might be able to help me buy them, but he wasn't totally sure about identifying the kanji/the house that they come from.

I understand that because of how names work, it might not be super easy, but I'm optimistic and grateful for any help :)

Nooope... I have the knife and can take more pictures but the only markings on it are what's in that picture. Don't have other information besides the fact that it was bought in Japan.

It took me a little while, but a few searches and I'm pretty confident I have it: 研波流 (Togiharu). I don't know that it's an official site, but I did find a page that appears to be selling them here. They all have the same writing on them, so I'm pretty sure it's the right brand.

Ahhh you're amazing! Thank you so much. You have no idea how much I appreciate it. It's one of the most beautiful things about this forum, finding virtual friends who are willing to spend "a little while" (which I'm sure was a considerable amount of time on your weekend!) Helping solve these mysteries of life. I'm so grateful to you!
