Best French adult newspaper for learner of 12 months.

Hello.
After 12 months of French, I am getting fairly proficient at reading and understand quite a lot of what I read (though certainly not every word).
I tend to practice with online newspapers but have noticed that my ability to read each of them varies by quite a bit.
I started with 1jour1actu (a children's newspaper) but quickly tried to make the leap to adult newspapers.
I have tried Le Monde, but struggled with the reading level - it seems to be a very intellectual paper and way above my level.
I tried 20 Minutes, which is great for short stories but I found that it was full of slang and colloquialisms that I am not ready for, yet.
I then tried Le Figaro, but found that the articles that they wrote about were not particularly wide-reaching (i.e. it was a bit boring).
I have finally settled on the Parisien, which seems to be just about right - interesting, plain French and of an intermediate level.
It would be interesting to hear the experiences of any other French learners.
