This piqued my curiosity, so I looked it up to see if I had made a mistake.

Iversen is definitely right about oblivion meaning that a thing will be forgotten about completely (as if that thing never existed in the first place). And while "oblivion" is not the same thing as a "void", at least I know that my association between those two ideas is not complete nonsense. Hopefully I haven't made anything more confusing for learningchayse!


You haven't. Reading the discussion actually makes me understand this phrase better.
For some usage, it is definitely clear now like "to drink into oblivion"
I guess I'll let it sit in my head for a while and let it do its work automatically.:D
