Site where people correct TL mistakes?

Postby Dylan95 » Mon Mar 18, 2019 6:38 am

Does anyone know if there is a site where people can pay for corrections of texts they have written?

Italki for example is a great site. But as far as I know, it's mostly just tutors who are paid by the hour for lessons. I am looking for a way to contact people who can correct my mistakes when writing in Russian.

Italki does have a very active section where users can post texts for correction. This is accessed via the Community button and then go to Notebook. As a beginner I have posted simple Russian texts and received up to 5 corrections, often from qualified teachers. I know that some teachers /tutors correct texts as a way of attracting students.

Alternatively you might read through the many teacher profiles in the Russian section to find those who specialise in the written language.

Good luck!

Have you looked into any language exchange apps such as hellotalk? You can either message people directly or post a message on your "moments" and people can correct it.

On top of that there is always hinative which is a great place for corrections.

eLingora is good too, for short texts or audios.

For longer and complex things, it is hard to find corrections. Some tutors do them, but most simply prefer to do just conversation with people, because it is less work. Finding someone is challenging. Asking a lot of tutors on the sites like verbling or italki about them directly is probably the best way to search, because almost nobody puts this kind of service in their profiles directly.

Isn't hinative just for single sentences? That is not too useful, I'd say. The real challenge are the longer texts. I miss lang8.

No, you can write more than that. However, many people ignore anything that's longer than a couple of sentences, so you might have to wait a while for corrections.
No idea if there is a character limit.

Thanks!

For eLingora, I asked about the character limit (the creator of the site was here on the forum some time ago and answered questions), it is 500 letters, if I remember correctly.
