Oh yes, I find it to be the most effective natural emetic  .

On a serious note, it is most intriguing to find someone actively seeking British media just for the accent.

Here are my recommendations:

Black Mirror, Downton Abbey*, The Crown, Inspector Morse*, Grantchester, Prime Suspect*, Foyle's War*, Dr. Who, Law & Order: UK*, Call The Midwife, Mrs. Brown's Boys*, Miranda, My Family*, Come Dine With Me (for intellectually vapid viewing with great recipe ideas), and Midsomer Murders.
(Legend: * = no longer running)

I've been a fan of Jeeves & Wooster since I saw it the first time (early 1990s).

A TV show is called a “series.” It ends in [s], even in the singular.

So many good recommendations made already, I just want to second a few:

Prime Suspect: Absolutely amazing series with Helen Mirren as a police detective.

This Life: Young professionals starting out in London. Several actors went on to become famous.

Also!

Happy Valley: Female detective in Yorkshire. So good!

I’d second a vote for Black Mirror, and we’ve just enjoyed The Night Manager, properly binge-watching it! Oh - and Cold Feet and This Life, if you have access to 90s TV shows. And if you want to brush up on profanities, The Thick of It is really good too.

Hi again,
after a complicated weekend at last I have some minutes to take a look on the forum :) I have been reading a lot of suggestions. Thank you so much to all of us for your recomendations . For me the chance to select the proper serie is almost something dramatic and it takes a lot of time :D :D . I can explain it, let me a second ;)

To begin with, a lot of times, too many, I would say, I have chosen a serie only to end up so bored at the second episode. Very upset and work-up I gave up and try to look for another one. Yep, when watching a serie with captions at night after an exhausting work-day I need a special motivation if I don't want to leave it. And, as you can imagine, the motivation is to find a serie stunning enough to hook me inside.
It is not easy, I have my own and wierd taste, I know it, namely:
- It has to be modern and recent (nothing to do with this old and endless series)
- It has to have (if possible) and end as Bodyguard or Broadchurch. (both of them fantastic)
- Would be great if it is in Netflix because otherwise I would need to a pirate version in order to have subtitles.

This is because I took out of my deck amazing series like Doctor Who, cracker, Sherlock and others.

Black Mirror, obviously, I have seen two or three episodes some time ago, but I took it out too, because the story begins and ends in each episode.

I think that good ones could be Peaky Blinders or Shameless. I tried Shameles the last year but I gave up it after tthree or four episodes (sorry, I told you, I am a little "picky" ;) )

Absolutely ;)

ummmh, definetely it seems to be something to take into account.

Happy Valley is currently in Netflish, this is going to be in the deck, for sure.

It was an option five years ago but fortunately I overcame those times, ,haha. :D

Thank you so much.

Blackadder is another classic series.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, so that would be my first recommendation. Broadchurch IS a fantastic show - the American spinoff Gracepoint also has David Tennant playing the same role, so if you wanted to move into American shows, that might not be a bad place to start.

For British shows, I'm also a fan myself so I would recommend:

Doctor Who
Sherlock
The Crown
Downton Abbey
Black Mirror

If detective shows are more to your liking, Sherlock is probably the best, with Doctor Who a close second (though they're both aimed at a more family-friendly audience than Broadchurch - Sherlock is a bit more adult than Doctor Who) and of Doctor Who there are 11 seasons of the NEW series (26 seasons of the original series - PLENTY of material to watch!) though it's mostly a science fiction (sci-fi) show. The Crown and Downton Abbey are both period pieces (mid/early 20th Century) which I love, and Black Mirror is dystopian sci-fi and it's FANTASTIC and creepy and wonderful.

There no shortage of older material as well (as has been mentioned), all four of those shows are current or recently ended. If you like period pieces, the BBC Pride and Prejudice miniseries from 1995 is a classic.

If you just want any material in British English, there's hours upon hours of hilarious Monty Python material, you could look into Flying Circus for a lot of that, maybe move onto Faulty Towers, Blackadder, etc.

There's really no shortage of British English television to find :)
