Postby Granrey » Wed Dec 27, 2023 5:27 pm

Hi Guys,

Just curious if you guys use/know a free online exam to measure your progress periodically. In my case is for French.

Thanks

Dialang might be an option. I've only used it once, so I don't know how suitable it is for periodic testing.

In general, repeating the same exam doesn't really measure progress. Even with no conscious recollection of taking the exam, people are known to do get better results the second time round.

Of you want to know you're progressing, you need to look at equivalent exams, so if recommend finding sample exams, but hiding then without looking at them in advance of actually taking the test itself.

Harder to do with many exams, but I know the Cambridge English people print books of past papers every for years, so hopefully there's something like that for yours. A four exam book gives you a for things that if spread out can check your progress.

thanks I finally made the time to take this exam as it it takes more than an hour.

Of all the ones I found. This was the most extensive but I'm surprised that other shorter exams have similar results.

So, after a year of study on my own. I'm B level.
I will take this exam again in 6 months and see if any progress.

That suggests that the makers of the shorter exams did a good job. :-)
