What size of image can the forum accept? And how the flip do I make it smaller? It is currently 1.52 MB

Unfortunately the forum software doesn't trim or modify images. There are online tools which will do it for you. I normally do 400x400

I like XnView for simple editing. It's available in many languages, I use it in Galician
With photos, I find that rotating it and saving already improves the compression
You can then rotate it back and save again.

I use Irfanview. It's free and has other editing possibilités, like cropping and making images sharper or brighter.

XnView also does, that's what I meant by simple editing.
@Bluepaint - I think to avoid stretching the page it should be no more than 800px wide.
