Hi guys,
Feel free to delete this thread, but I didn't want to post about this in a forum of strangers. Please PM me if you can help.
I got tricked by a Windows 10 update. When the computer finished launching and W10 had updated, it opened as a temp user. SO, my files from the User Documents folders were gone. I needed to work on them so I moved them (from three specific folders) into that temp user's folders.
Computer shut down, and when I turned it on again the files were all gone. My normal user was restored and the temp user was gone with all its recently "added files" (those I had manually moved from my normal user's folder to the temporary user's one). They were deleted permanently as over 200gb of files were free again, as I checked on disksspace available.
I found a couple of recoveral softwares but they ask for nearly a hundred US$ plus it's a mess, with several other files being displayed altogether. I wish I'd be able to simply point to those three folders and restore them.
Best regards,
Expug

I think the problems is that you are signed in with as a temp user. Try restarting your computer and sign in as your user name. See this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/12386/windows-10-find-lost-files-after-update

I managed to restore the default user, but the problem is that meanwhile I had already moved all my documents manually to that temporary user's folder, and once it was gone so were the files.

There is a opensource utility you could look at using. http://www.system-rescue-cd.org/
It can undelete files and do file recovery. It will be more work but should be good.

Before using a third party software have you looked into the "file history" of the folder you moved the files from originally?

It probably won't help, but it is the first step to check.
