Hear me out.
I've heard many folks here talk about taking this or that test for their language. That's great! I've been lucky in that I've been able to take advantage of the U.S. military's language testing (DLPT).
What would be even greater would be a sticky post somewhere in here where all the proficiency tests for various languages could be mentioned, with links perhaps, so that forumites who want to test themselves can go to one place to find out how to test their proficiency.
For instance, you can test in Esperanto and receive a CEFR equivalency through UEA a few times a year. A link to information on that testing could be included in such a stickied post as I'm recommending.
Thoughts?
(FYI: I searched the forums for the topic "testing" and got many and varied hits, but they are all over the forum that it is too hard to find exactly what one is looking for.)

You're not a C1 (or B1 or whatever) if you haven't tested.

You can find a list of some of the exams here:
Wikipedia > Common European Framework of Reference for Languages > 6.2 Language-specific scales
What about "teaching" were you looking for?

Doh! I meant "testing." I've corrected it above.
Thanks for the link. Still think a stickied post would be beneficial.

Re: Sticky post for language testing
I also think a sticky would be great. It would be even nicer to have experiences of forum members who have taken these exams in one place, but that's probably harder to organise...

I don't know that it would warrant an entire subforum (probably? I don't really understand either!), but a sticky thread and maybe content on the static site would be very fir for purpose.

Re: Sticky post for language testing
Exam details such as time and format change all the time, so you cannot include such details in the sticky post. So you can really only put a hyperlink to each exam. In which case I don't see how this sticky post would be better than a Google search or the Wikipedia page posted above.
The static site seems a better place for the post as the post would be informative instead of something for discussion.
The information will have to be complete, as incomplete information would look bad and could be misleading.
The information will have to be constantly up-to-date, as outdated information would look bad and could be misleading.
It's a good thing that we finally have ideas for static pages / have someone willing to create static pages.
Would be good to include online self-administered non-official exams as well.

Don't forget we still have the wiki. And because many people can edit the wiki post, it is easier to maintain. Then we can have one locked thread in the FAQ room which links to the wiki?
What do you think?

Re: Sticky post for language testing
I'd be happy with a link to all the exams. I'm thinking of wanting a place to go where I can answer "where do I go to test for my Russian?" One thread with all that would be great, whether it is a sticky thread or not.
