SQL Errors

Postby Montmorency » Fri Apr 29, 2016 3:33 pm

I've had this error a few times in the last few days:
General Error
SQL ERROR [ mysqli ]

Too many connections [1040]

An sql error occurred while fetching this page. Please contact an administrator if this problem persists.

First time I'd ever experienced anything like it on this forum.

Yes this happens occasionally. Normally it is because of one of the other sites on the shared server which isn't closing DB connections properly. The hosting company has increased the connections, and it is more rare nowadays, but it still happens. We could get a dedicated server, but then we'd start have to try and recoup the costs with advertisements or donations. At the moment I carry the cost of the hosting and it is all free. But you have to put up with the occasional SQL error.

We are looking at other options which we might be able to do which would resolve the SQL errors.

I saw one this morning, but it went away when I reconnected. I've only been seeing them every few months.

I hadn't seen any at all until recently, and began to get a little worried when the frequency seemed to be increasing, which was why I reported it, in case some underlying problem was developing.
