Having to wait isn't a big deal, it's just my normal reaction when joining an online forum is, "Okay, I need to go fill at my profile (as a way of introduction) before I participate." Just mentioning that we need to wait in the FAQ would be great. I checked there initially to see if I was limited.

Hummm.... it is the first question I think, perhaps I should separate the PM & Profile into two questions.

Oh wow, you're right, that's embarrassing! I think you're right, maybe I saw PM and my brain skimmed over. (I went down to the part speaking about profile images, assuming it'd be mentioned near there.) That might just be me being stupid then; I'd wait to see if more people make the same mistake.

I also just looked around everywhere. It would indeed be very helpful to at least mention this in the profile and the FAQ if it can't be changed.

Ah I see, I only looked at the FAQ linked at the top, assuming they're the same. Thanks.

I also spent plenty of time and read the FAQs to the bottom without finding anything remotely related with this issue. This definitely deserves a FAQs update in my opinion.

In the FAQ here: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1792 it was the very first question asked and answered when I posted the FAQ.
Question number 1 & 2:
1. Why can't I send a private message or update my profile?
This is an anti-spam setting configured on the forum. Because spammers have historically posted links into profiles, or send spam via the private message system these functions have been restricted to members who've posted to the forum a number of times. This is currently set to 3 posts, but could change depending on the level of spam removed by moderators and administrators of the forum. While this restriction isn't ideal, it does keep a lot of "drive-by" spammers out of the system.

2. Why can't I update my profile?
Same reason as above, it is an anti-spam setting on the forum, and you'll be allowed after a few posts in good standing.

That's exactly my point. I also realised when I read this thread. However, the first thing I did was refering to the website FAQs. I couldn't (can't) send anything there.

Anyway, I understand the reason why this option is unavailable.

I guess it makes sense to update the answers given the new approval system?
