Spoilers extension

Postby arthaey » Tue Dec 01, 2015 12:18 am

We talk a lot about books, movies, and TV here on the forum. But we're often enjoying our media independently, so spoilers abound. It would be nice if we had an easy way to hide spoiler-y text.

Luckily, there's already a phpBB 3.x extension for that! Behold, the Prome BBcode Spoiler extension (and also discussion thread).

Based on the discussion thread, the CSS may need to be tweaked, depending on if it plays nicely with our themes.

It's a good idea. Not only you can hide spoilers but also the translations so that your readers can try to understand the text before getting the translation.

Edit: Well, in case you do it.

Are there any technical difficulties in installing this extension? Or maybe the folks with access are just busy... :)

Just busy. We have a little list of extensions which should be installed soon, maybe a couple more language packs too. :)

Sorry to be a squeaky wheel... Are you taking more tech volunteers for the purposes of installing extensions and the like, perhaps? :)

Thank you for suggesting the extension, and my apologies for the slow response!

We do accept nice, clean pull requests on GitHub. :-) I'm a bit backlogged on reviewing them right now (too busy between work, Spanish and hacking on substudy), but if you can put together a PR with no extraneous files or changes, I can try to get caught up on PRs soon.

Would love to see this implemented. Would help immensely in all discussions about books and movies.
