And then you have to decide whether you prefer the Oxford Style Guide, or the Chicago Manual of Style.

I almost never write long posts using forms. I use notepad or something like it. It's just a habit I have formed. Text in forms online looks ugly to me, and a lot of the time you have to either scroll or resize the box to see your whole post. I don't like doing either.

How long is the "remember me" checkbox good for? I just got logged out again, after only a few days.

I think I had to log in again after the domain switch a couple of days ago, but not after that.

Just wanted to send out an update. The forum software has a timeout on the time it take you to submit a form which is 7200 seconds, or 2 hours. So if it takes you longer than two hours to write it, you might lose it. If you are writing something which is going to take you a long time, I would recommend you write it locally on your machine in a text editor and then copy and paste it.

I have become accustomed to write my long texts in Word or Libra because I know that I have a tendency to spend a long time writing them - not because they are long, but because I once in a while want to check some insignificant detail, and then I suddenly find myself buried in Anglosaxon grammar or the names for Greek national parks or full text sources for obscure poems in Ancient French. Or I remember vaguely having read something about one of Jupiters moons in one of my Sci mags, and then I start searching, and time is running and suddenly I have spent an hour or two reading about other things.

I've been logged out (from non-form pages) on this forum twice more in the past 12 hours. What's up? :(

At least you have access to a list of the newest posts and to searches as a guest, so you only really need to be logged in if you actually want to write something yourself.
