Boolean/advanced search operators?

Hi! I wanted to know if would it be possible to use advanced search operators. I always keep an offline copy of everything that I write, but nonetheless, perhaps it could be an useful feature. But as I don't know anything about programming, perhaps I'm asking for something that is really complicated and time consuming. In that case, don't do it. You guys have done so much already for us. :)

I use this type of symbols to find information in offline text documents "[franc01]". That means -for me- francés (French) 01, the first text that I wrote here in French. If you can't use "[]" or numbers -as that might get confused with something else-, what are other ways to identify specifical parts of your own content?

Thanks in advance.

Astromule.

Yeah, really high-quality search is a great thing for a forum like this, but unfortunately, changing how the built-in search works is a huge project. I wish I had better news for you!

This must be advanced because I can't figure it out.

How do I search for a string that contains white space?

Someone did this great post with a long list of "language island topics", but my searches aren't finding it. Maybe they used different words or the search results are so big I'm not finding what I'm looking for.

I tried "language island". Two words connected by white-space in single or double quotes, but that doesn't seem to do the trick.

This helps, but isn't helping enough to find what I'm looking for:

+language +island -treasure

Any tips?

Your best bet would be to use a site specific search on Google:

Code: Select all

site:language-learners.org "language island" "topics"

That takes me to a fantastic post. More relevant than what I was looking for.

Apparently google already knows more about me than I do.

And I was just getting ready to edit my original post and add a joke that perhaps the problem was that I did -treasure, and I'm searching for treasure.
