I didn't get any captcha's today. I don't know what has happened, but whatever our administrators have done it has solved the problem.
Edit 19:06: Now the captcha is back...
Has the new proxy fixed the login captcha problem?

Yes. I’m back to good today, too.
Thank you, whoever fixed the issue.

I always get a captcha when I first log in (on my phone) and that's fine, but when it logs me out after about 5 seconds of inactivity (because I was reading a post), that's what's getting a tad irritating.
Funnily enough, it has stopped logging me out while I spend 20 mins typing a post

Today no captchas, but I had them yesterday. Is it some kind of nightly cleaning operation that saves us from this phenomenon, and if yes, can it be automatized as a task?

I don't believe that we are doing anything. However, it might be that Amazon perform some kind of nightly purge which is clearing the IP addresses going to the proxy.

And the problem is back for me today.
Ah well, apa boleh buat? - as they say in Indonesian to good naturedly express resignation.
