Question about deleted posts

Postby AndyMeg » Mon Jan 24, 2022 3:16 pm

golyplot recently wrote this on one of my old logs:

Then I may give it a chance. ;)

Does anyone know what happened to ロータス? It seems like not only are they gone, but all their posts disappeared too, so the beginning of your log makes it seem like you're talking to yourself.

I remember that when reineke got banned, his old posts still showed up on the forums, so this is especially surprising to see.

I hadn't noticed that all ロータス's post were missing. So now I'm curious too:

When (in which cases) do all the posts from a user get deleted in the forum?

I'm not sure, but I think that all posts from a member disappear if the member is deleted from the database.

If I remember correctly, it is possible to delete a user and leave the posts or delete both the user and their posts.
For a long-time user, I imagine this is likely only going to happen from a personal request or a truly egregious rule breaker.

You're right! Here is an example of a thread with posts by members whose accounts have been deleted/inactivated - the posts remain, as well as the names of the members. Of course, there are no links to their profiles.

However, if a person sends a message to the administrator and asks for their account and posts to be removed, then we try our best to remove everything without too much disruption. If I remember correctly, this member asked to be removed, they were not banned.
