FSI basic Spanish Volume 1 (lessons 1-15) completed.

I found it all relatively easy except for the last lesson - there was some weird old fashioned vocabulary and indirect pronouns are covered in Lesson 15 - Indirect clitic pronouns: One object & Indirect clitic pronouns: Two objects.

I have decided to finish my PMP Basic Spanish workbook (which I'm already 3/4 of the way through) as the last few chapters of the book covers direct & indirect object pronouns.

Hopefully this will help strengthen this weak area and if I have any spare time I'll run through FSI lesson 15 a few times more.

I suspect it will take me a week or 2 to finish my PMP workbook and then I'll move on to FSI Volume 2 (lessons 16-30).

So my plan moving forward is:
    1. Finish workbook: PMP Basic Spanish (Chapter 7-10)
    2. Then: start FSI volume 2 and finish workbook: Perfecting the Past
    3. Then move onto workbook: PMP verb tenses, so I can review all the tenses as they appear in FSI.

I will continue trying to read, listen and watch YouTube as much as I can, along with the studying above.

It will be nice to actually finish a few of my workbooks for a change :D

Congratulations on finishing FSI 1! I bet that felt like you'd reached a milestone. And thanks for posting the video and screen shots for readlang. I am seriously considering pulling the trigger on a subscription. Do you know if they have an app for androids? I don't always have access to my personal computer.

There are no apps for Readlang but I mostly use it on my Android phone with no problems at all. You can always try it for a while before you decide, the free version is very useable.

Finished my 'Practice Makes Perfect Basic Spanish' textbook today. I've had it for years (at least 3) so it's nice to finally finish it

I need to work on:
- Direct & Indirect object pronouns
- Reflexive verbs
- Double negatives
- Unknown common verbs
- Unknown common nouns

I mix up all the pronouns when I write quickly and it appears I'm rubbish with double negatives

However most of the book was very easy. I have highlighted my weak areas in the book but I have no idea what to do with this information, somehow I need to work on these weaker areas.

My plan next is to finish my 'Practicing the Past Tense' textbook. Then maybe go through my PMP verb tenses workbook. I have a lot of textbooks lying untouched and it seems I quite enjoy working through them...so I decided... why not use them.

I started back on FSI Basic Spanish (Volume 2) last week. Lesson 16 was easy but it appears that lesson 17 dialogue is a nightmare of unknown vocab, sentence structures etc...this may take me more than the usual 3 passes to master :(

Hopefully the drills are easier than the dialogue

Ok so the drills on lesson 17 were nowhere near as bad as the dialogue. I've edited the audio so I can listen to just the dialogue on its own repeatedly. I'll go through the drills 3 or 4 times until I'm happy that I've got it as usual.

Started back with my 'Perfecting the Past' textbook and after an hour of choosing the correct tense in the exercises, I realized that I now have a pretty good idea of which tense to use when.

HOWEVER my conjugation skills in the past tenses are atrocious :o

I am going to stop working through my textbook and concentrate on the conjugations alone for a couple of weeks. Hopefully when I return to the textbook I'll have improved a bit. Luckily the past tenses are exactly what is being covered in FSI from now onwards, so hopefully the drills there will help as well.

Super Challenge May totals:
Books read: 4.9
Films watched: 5.2

Total so far: 59 books & 75 films

I seem to be settling into a routine of around 4 or 5 books and 5 films a month. Still need to increase my reading a bit to complete the SC.

I am trying to focus on reading more extensively, but I find it really difficult not to slip back into intensive reading as soon as I don't understand something.

1st February 2019 I wrote...
Bex wrote:I have noticed that I am starting to be able to "hear" whole sentences on TV now, last year I was very aware that I could hear each separate word but I couldn't process them fast enough to be able to hear the whole sentence. Now when I am watching say 30 mins of TV there will be 2 (maybe even 5 minutes) where I understand pretty much everything that is said :D

Yesterday I watched the same program as I used to watch every evening, it's a News/local stories type program on one of the main Spanish channels called "Aquí La Tierra". I always liked it because each segment is short, so when I had no idea what they were talking about the frustration didn't last long and each section they visit different areas of Spain, it's very visual with cooking, farming, local crafts etc discussed in each section.

Anyway for some reason I hadn't managed to sit down and watch it over the last couple of months but yesterday evening I managed to catch it and not be interrupted too much.

What a difference from February...

I could follow the whole thing, there wasn't a single section I didn't follow. There were words I didn't get and I missed bits here and there but nothing noticeable. I didn't really even notice I was following so easily until it had finished, because I was just watching it....like normal TV
