Reading: 34 pages
Active listening: 6 hrs 13 mins
Background listening: 30 mins
Studying: 3 hours
Resources
Reading: Harry Potter book 4, LingQ.
Active Listening: YouTube - Dreaming Spanish, Peppa Pig. Audiobook - Harry Potter 4. Netflix - Money Heist part 1.
Background listening: Radio
Studying: FSI Basic lesson 11, Clozemaster.
I am enjoying the fourth Harry Potter book more than the last one, the last book was so slow I nearly gave up.
The YouTube playlists have been helpful, they stop me procrastinating over what to watch.
I have decided to finish the first volume of FSI as I was three quarters of the way through it. I will decide whether to continue when I've finished volume 1 or I may replace it with one of the many grammar books I have lying around!
I have also gone back to Clozemaster I need some way of learning new vocabulary. Clozemaster fills this gap nicely.
I decided to sit down and work out what my current weaknesses are this week and find some way of working on them. It was very useful in terms of narrowing down the resources I use, especially as I have a tendency to try and use everything "just in case"!
I have some grammar issues I am very aware of and I also need to make sure I am learning and reviewing common vocabulary (and not just 'Harry Potter' vocab). So for now I have re-introduced FSI and Clozemaster in order to work on these issues... but definitely with no targets anywhere to be seen

Finally reached the half way point...50 books read for the Super Challenge
Harry Potter is definitely easier to read now than when I first started the challenge but it is still difficult and slow going.... it's just not really difficult and painfully slow going anymore

Re: Bex Spanish log 2019: a definitive guide on the slowest way to learn Spanish ever!
This weeks stats....
Reading: 88 pages
Active listening: 2hrs 10 mins.
Studying: 7 hours 42 mins
Not as much active listening achieved this week as I got distracted with studying. I am enjoying working through my Perfecting the Past workbook and FSI.
My grammar workbook also brought screaming to my attention a few things.
1. I am good at recognising tenses and moods.
2. I am quite good at choosing which tense/mood to use to convey ideas.
3. I am awful at producing verb conjugations correctly.
I'm all passive with no active skills
Definitely time to activate...
...so I tried 4 or 5 different apps/websites to practice verb conjugations and settled on maestrospanish.com. There's no audio which is a shame but I struggled to find a trainer which allowed me to type my answers, used SRS and didn't require payment to access all the tenses.
I am also addressing this issue with FSI, Clozemaster & my grammar workbook so hopefully after a few months of working on this I will see an improvement.
It's nice to now be focusing on my weaknesses and areas I wish to improve. I am allowing myself to adjust and re-assess my resources, rather than just setting targets to hit. Definitely feels like a more constructive use of my time.

Re: Bex Spanish log 2019: a definitive guide on the slowest way to learn Spanish ever!
Last weeks stats....1-7 April.
Read 3 chapters of Harry Potter 4 this week (62 pages read).
1 hour 19 mins of active listening.
5 hours 25 mins studying.
50 mins Clozemaster
Total studying: 7 HR 34 mins not including time spent learning irregular verbs conjunctions on https://maestrospanish.com
Still studying too much and not reading or listening enough, I need to address this.
I paid for a years premium subscription for ReadLang. I have used LingQ extensively and I loved the stats on LingQ (although they were wrong a lot of the time ) but I was waiting for an update to fix at least a few of the bugs, before I paid for premium... but it never happened, so after six months of waiting I started looking for something to replace it.
For uploading proper books ReadLang is far more suitable and I really prefer the translations because they aren't made by users. I have added DeepL as my translation dictionary for my flashcards.
So far I'm happy with it, I wish it logged my reading stats but I had to manually log my reading & listening stats on a spreadsheet anyway because the LingQ stats were usually wrong, so I don't suppose it will make much difference.
I now have two copies of Harry Potter 4 on ReadLang and I am reading through one extensively and the other one intensively.

Re: Bex Spanish log 2019: a definitive guide on the slowest way to learn Spanish ever!
This weeks stats....
Total time this week: 6 hours 50 mins*
Read 3 more chapters of Harry Potter 4 this week plus some other random things - 99 pages read.
3 hour 14 mins of active listening/watching - YouTube
2 hours 45 mins studying - FSI & textbook.
51 mins Clozemaster
*Not including SRS, verb conjugation practice or reading time.
I'm happier with my balance of studying vs reading/listening this week. I have managed to spend a bit less time with my textbook and a bit more time reading and watching YouTube.
I have finished FSI lesson 13 this week, so far it's taken me 3 passes through each lesson before I feel confident enough to move on. I have found the drills pretty straightforward but the dialogues I struggle with more, especially with the longer sentences
I am yet to decide if I should attempt Level 2, although looking at the contents I probably should:

Thanks Inst... I'm sure I will, it's a long road. It's school holidays here at the moment and I'm enjoying time with my family.
Still keeping up with verb conjugation practice every day, listening to Spanish radio and a bit of Readlang here and there. I'll get back to FSI next and my textbook next week when the holidays are over but it's been nice to have this break.
I used to stress about taking breaks but I've found over the years that coming back to things like FSI with renewed enthusiasm is actually a good thing.
