I've never done a readathon before, but I've been intrigued by them. Hmm, I know I wouldn't manage 24 hours this weekend, but I do have more-than-average free time this weekend. I am tempted to try it.
And good luck with your readathon! Will you be posting updates?

Wow! A 24/48 readathon! I don't have time to do that - too much on the plate already. Maybe someday when I'm at a comfortable reading level in my daily languages. (I just did the maths for my reading speed in my strong languages...)

Before I did the 24 in 48 Readathon last time, I’d only ever done the manga madness readathon—which I’m planning to do entirely not in English the next time it’s on. Last July I got to just over fifteen hours, which yeah, I didn’t hit 24 but it’s amazing how much you get through! I would definitely recommend you join me in this
I’m updating on my blog, but I’ll probably do EOD ones here too, depending what I get read. I’ll definitely update Monday (if I haven’t passed out from exhaustion or something )

It’s definitely something you have to block out time for; I still have to work this weekend but I’m doing my most basic hours and turned down overtime to read instead kid-me would be proud.
But yeah, it’s not about how much you read, it’s about how long you keep going for—though, yeah, that’s part of why I’m not doing it entirely in TLs. Reading exhaustion is real They do run this twice a year, though, so it’s soemthing to aim for maybe?

This seems like an interesting challenge! I might do this myself. Don't think I'll sign up anywhere, but just do it off my own back. That would certainly knock out some super challenge books!

Yessssssssss! Let me know how it goes for you; I'm not quite at four hours yet, which is further behind than I'd like, but audiobooks are saving me

Yay, you definitely should! That's what I'm hoping for as well, really—I'm behind on all the reading I set for myself this year, so this should help get through those pages.

Re: 2019: Learn Harder [DE, ZH, ES, EU, PL, KO]
Quiiiiiiiiiiick readathon update (because I should be reading, not typing ): we're 31.5hrs in and I've read for 16 of those; right on track! Still, it's going to get difficult later on today so I'm relying on audiobooks right now to keep my time ticking over.
I read about 12 pages of 钢之炼金术师 last night (and looked up and learnt the title) in half an hour, so I might not get through the entire first volume by Tuesday, but I think I'll get a fair chunk done. I've also done about an hour of that reading over the last two days in German (from a couple of different books), but I haven't tried Spanish yet. Going for a run now—more audiobook time—but when I come back, I might try some manga in Spanish for a little while.
How's everyone else doing?

I didn't realise audiobooks counted. That makes this challenge a bit of a easy win doesn't it?

Re: 2019: Learn Harder [DE, ZH, ES, EU, PL, KO]
Today will be my main reading day. Yesterday, I had a 2 hour Dutch class to attend in the morning, and I was occupied with a Big Social Thing from 6 p.m. onward. Even so, I managed to get in just over four hours yesterday.
Most of that time was indeed with an audiobook in my native language. So even using an audiobook doesn’t necessarily mean that I find it easy to grab reading hours I actually rarely listen to audiobooks in my native language, maybe three per year. By contrast, I usually read 50-60 books annually.
I have a hard time focusing on audiobooks, even in my native language. Listening to one yesterday for 3+ hours was a challenge for me. I had to replay bits once in a while. I chose Lincoln in the Bardo because it has lots and lots of characters/voices. That keeps me from zoning out
My totals for yesterday were 3h47m in English and 30 minutes of Danish. Today, I’ll rotate through English, Danish, Dutch and Latin. I will probably only use the audiobook a little bit today.
