My french comprehension abilities are pretty good: I can read novels fairly easily and my listening, while still far from perfect, is good enough to enjoy tv shows and podcasts. The problem is that I practically never practice output, so I'd like to improve on that. I decided that I'll write a response to the prompt questions for the output challenge found here : https://forum.language-learners.org/vie ... f=21&t=710
So for example, I translate the question, then answer the question with a paragraph or two. Here's questions 1 and 2:
1.Quel était ton plat préféré quand tu étais enfant ? Est-ce différent maintenant ? Si oui, pourquoi n'est-ce plus le même ?
Quand j'étais enfant mon plat préféré était les tacos, mais cela a changé récemment. Étant donné que j'ai décidé d'être végétarien il y a six mois, je ne peux plus savourer de délicieux tacos. Enfin, je dirais que les tacos sont encore mon plat préféré, c'est juste que je ne me permet pas d'en manger. Pour être honnête, le goût des tacos me manque, mais physiquement, je me sens tellement mieux en suivant un régime végétarien. Alors je bannis les tacos de mon avenir
2. Quelle est la chanson la plus écoutée sur ton portable ? Quand l'as-tu découverte ? Pourquoi l'aimes-tu? Qui te l'a faite écouter pour la première fois ?
C'est difficile pour moi de répondre à cette question car la plupart des chansons que j'écoute, je les écoute sur youtube. Alors pas facile de savoir exactement laquelle est la plus écoutée. Cela dit, je peux quand même dire que j'en écoute beaucoup d'Eminem ces temps-ci. Il faut dire que d'habitude je n'apprécie pas le rap, mais j'écoutais Eminem tout le temps quand j'étais plus jeune donc j'ai un faible pour lui. Il y a quelques mois, il a sorti un nouvel album et je me suis bien amusé à le découvrir. Depuis, youtube me conseille beaucoup de ses chansons et c'est cool car ça me rappelle des bons moments de quand j'étais enfant.
I try to respond to at least one question a day. Other than that, I read a french book every day or a manga/ BD in french, and I listen to french every day. I've stopped tracking time, but I'd estimate that I spend around 2-3 hours a day with French. As you can see, I need to dedicate more time to output— speaking in particular— but I haven't found a reliable language partner yet and I'm too cheap to pay someone to speak with me. I might just settle with leaving long voice messages for my one French Friend who randomly pops online once or twice a week.

Spanish
Honestly, I just want to be able to read Spanish books and enjoy Spanish television. I've done the Michel Thomas Foundation course which is as useful as it is annoying, which is to say that it's very useful. Now I'm working with Assimil and Hugo's Spanish in 3 Months.

Since I've last kept a log, I've dabbled in Russian, German, and japanese before I settled on spanish, but honestly I still dabble in some of those languages, so who knows what I'm doing.
