There are some grammatical issues, yes (mainly the gender of words and word order here and there), but I think the biggest thing is that some of your German isn't idiomatic. A native speaker will point out all of your mistakes for you better than I ever would - but sometimes you use the proper collocation only to forget about it a sentence or two later.
And because you're writing - look up gender if you're not sure. For example, it is "das Opfer". Die Opfer does exist, but it's the plural.
idk what, but probably Czech again (back after a long hiatus)

Re: idk what, but probably Czech again (back after a long hiatus)
I guess I'll have to disappear again sometime soon. Working 6/1 10 or even 12 (effectively 11 or 13) hours a day is soul-crushing. I do have a day off tomorrow but the only language I'm gonna deal with is English, just as usual. Listening to Czech songs obviously does nothing. I don't even know what else I can do.
I ditched Game of Thrones in order to read Orwell's Keep the aspidistra flying. It's horribly depressing and I'm reading very slowly, buuut it's better than nothing, huh?

Have you considered reading cheerful books?Via Diva wrote:I ditched Game of Thrones in order to read Orwell's Keep the aspidistra flying. It's horribly depressing and I'm reading very slowly, buuut it's better than nothing, huh?
Gerald Durrell's "My family and other animals" might be a good choice. It's a set book in UK schools, but it's funny too!
EDIT
Some copyright free options would be Just William, by Richmal Crompton, and Brigadier Gerard by Conan Doyle.

Actually I read a lot of Durrell's books as a kid! I did think about reading them in English, but I'm just in the wrong kind of mood for it, I guess. And wow I didn't know it's a mandatory school reading in UK. Rightfully so, nevertheless.
I tried reading his brother's books btw, but the trying wasn't hard enough, most definitely.
I'll look at the free options too, thanks!

Re: idk what, but probably Czech again (back after a long hiatus)
My former boss upon hearing that I've been watching Game of Thrones recommended me some Turkish show called "Kara Sevda" or "Black love". So I finally got to start watching it and I can't stop. I don't get why did she relate this show to Game of Thrones, it's a classic drama, soap opera featuring some epic villains, but once I'm in I can't stop. It's horribly long, 2 seasons, 35 episodes, 2 hours each, but still... too late now. And of course I'm watching it in Turkish with Russian subtitles. it doesn't help that I only know a few words like abla jok and the like, but hey it's not like I'm going to learn Turkish.
No, seriously, that's just a delay in all my other languages, I'm so not learning Turkish.

Re: idk what, but probably Czech again (back after a long hiatus)
I watched so much of that soap opera I got in a mood to write the following:
all I really need in my life
is the presence of someone alive
lifeless things give no pleasure to me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
be it a fish, a cat, a man
they all would do, and just one
notion of them liking me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
I'm lifeless and alone all the time
and life tastes like an extra sour lime
I need some life to be close to me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
they never stay with me for long
I poison them with my song
of how my life is killing me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
and yet I crave that warmth and sound
of a heart that's beating so loud
close to my ear, deafening me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
my fate is to be left alone
my life has made me into stone
yet there is a wound inside of me
someone alive is all I need to breathe
one day that someone will rise up
and perform a great setup
and fix that loneliness of mine
someone alive is all I decline
still don't wanna learn Turkish though.

Could you combine your language learning with some kind of club? Some posters (TastyOnions?) practise their languages at Meetup.com groups, polyglot cafés, or language exchange groups.Via Diva wrote:I watched so much of that soap opera I got in a mood to write the following:

Theoretically since I live rather close to Moscow now I could do that, but the lack of time says "hell no". I work crazy hours in retail, think I'm out at 7:40 and back at 20:20 or even later. Plus as of late I don't even have days off.
And the languages I could probably do that with are English, German and Czech.
tarvos, lol, only if you give it to me in person :P

Those are pretty good languages for meetups though. Don't think it's too bad.
And no, you can buy it yourself
