ok, I gave up in a few ways:
1) downloaded the app called České vtipy. Basically a large collection of jokes. Somehow it doesn't have my all-time favourite Czech joke about cannibals:
A vrchní kanibal odpoví: "Ty jseš idiot. My jsme už sežrali vedoucího oddělení marketingu a hlavního manažera kontrolingu, a nikdo nic nepoznal a ty, debile, sežereš právě uklízečku!"
Ponaučení: Někteří chybějí - někteří ne!

but its base is huge. The big problem is, of course, that I don't understand just about anything. Buuut here are a few I got without much problems:
„Opravdu? A viděl jste ještě něco víc?”
„Ne, to jsem neviděl.”
„No, tak to jste odešel hodně brzy!”

Also made my colleague laugh yesterday while trying to read it out loud xD
2) installed Memrise again. Useless so far and I'll forget it soon but still.
3) started reading an aligned Czech-Russian version of Osudy dobrého vojáka Švejka za světové války. Not really my style, but it's surprisingly satisfactory to see how similar yet different the language are. Someone plz align Harry Potter.
just kidding, ofc.

I finally managed to finish "Keep the aspidistra flying"! It's a good book. It's just incredibly dull to read without pauses. The story is a bloody fantasy, to be honest, but maybe such people like Gordon Comstock still live on this planet?
Now moving on to "A Clockwork Orange". Not too excited about that, except for the nadsat, of course.

Švejk a Don Quijote.

A mám do českých postů přidávat překlady do angličtiny? :-)

That feeling when you understand almost everything in these messages but can't reply on anything but English -_-
oh well gotta try?

Soooo I changed my phone's language to Czech and it works amazingly. Google Chrome knows me well enough, giving interesting articles to read on its home page: I found out that Nohavica had a meeting with our famous hockey goalie Tretyak - I didn't understand why and how, but it's still fun... and today I clicked on the link to a YouTube video "Pokáč - Mám doma kočku". As an owner of a wonderful little kitten I find the parts of the song that I understand really funny and relatable xD

Mám doma kočku, mám ji rád, je to skvělý kamarád,

Hopefully I'll find more interesting stuff thanks to Google in future ;)

Soooo... you know, it's very easy to wake an interest in a language in me. Countless times I swore to never learn French - and I never really tried, hehe, but here's yet another video to make me doubt my position: https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_ ... 6148863031
Like, the language in there is just so beautiful. But okay that's not enough to make me attempt anything in French again xD

The Czech song about having a cat stuck with me all day long and all day long I missed my cat like crazy -_- as if life wasn't hard enough xD

No, I'm not learning Czech actively.

I write sum poetri lulz (Warcraft related)

I cannot sleep and so I cry
the lonely tower of my past
is broken - and so am I
I wish to die but I'm the last

I cannot sleep and yet I dream
I hear a voice, I hear a call
"Med, my friend, come to the stream!"
and then the night takes its toll

I cannot sleep and yet I see
my old but young apprentice
how strange is it that he is a key
to saving this world, so momentous

I cannot sleep though it's the night
and I'm not dead but resurrected
but if I sleep might fade the light
leaving this world unprotected

I cannot sleep - can't lose control
from birth accursed I am a danger
my greatest sin I must atone
and then remain a legend and a stranger

I cannot sleep because I know
that nothing would ever be enough
to justify my life, a pompous show
of might, my mother's greatest bluff

I cannot sleep for when I wake
I kill those who hold me dear
I'm so tired but strong is my ache
the voice of reason I cannot hear

I cannot sleep - though sleep I crave
in sleep I found piece during a war
the war that led me to my grave
oh why did I open that bloody door

I cannot sleep and I should not
I slept for years and was even dead
so one can say I've slept a lot
and now should always go ahead

I cannot sleep and I will not
I am above my mortal needs
my once human body does not rot
so I fly around doing my deeds

I cannot sleep - I have secrets to keep
I am like no one else alive
time will come when in me there is no need
but now... I am Medivh and you'll survive!
