Oh, Definitely! Here are a few to choose from:

Romance Sonambulo de Lorca
Las Moscas de Machado
La Contrata de Mozos de Claudio Rodriguez
Limites de Borges
Si tu me olvidas de Neruda
Proverbios y cantares de Machado

if none fit, let me know!

Listening to the second recording I posted using Audacity and trying to replicate as closely as possible I've discovered a few things about my pronunciation.

For the sentence "wollte der Bach sei ein Fluß"
- I tend to over pronounce /χ/ in the Bach,
- separate too much 'sei ein' where the reader barely has /sai/
- he stretches out the vowel in Fluß more than I do

- words like "hängenden" I over-pronounced the d.

*sigh*

Tibetan pronunciation complaint

Postby zenmonkey » Wed Jul 18, 2018 10:56 pm

My gosh!

This is to mark the moment so that years from now I cam come back and laugh at my frustration.
It.just.seems.so.random.

So my early efforts to learn the Tibetan alphabet included learning aspiration and tone of certain letters. Fine. Add a little nasalisation and variant vowel length based on tone. That works.

Then when reading you have to identify the root letter and figure out if the prefix, suffix, superscribed or subjoined letters play a role. A little tougher...but I thought I had it.

Then I started using the Memrise class which goes through a lot of pronunciation exercises. I am just really bad at getting the tones and I feel my brain is going to explode.

Example 1:
1) གྲ and དྲ and བྲ all make the same sound - these are the letters and and with a subjoined . Independently they make different sounds.

2) that sound is /ʈʰɑ˨/ a voiceless retroflex stop that is also aspirated and low tone. Finally figured out how to do that, more or less.

3) along comes ཀྲ / པྲ which makes /ʈā/ - non aspirated and high tone but only with that subjoined .

4) not to confuse with འད / ཟླ / རྡ /ta, da/ - a non-retroflex, non-aspirated voiceless stop, it loses the low tone (?) of the non-superscribed letter .

5) and then there is འགྲ / འདྲ / འབྲ / སྒྲ all with /ʈa, ɖa/

c'mon.

Example 2 : I'm just going to put these out there... I ran out of steam

ཉ / མྱ - ɲa (thankful for spanish)
རྣ - nā
རྙ / སྨྱ - ɲā
རྔ - ŋā (eng)

and all the others....
