What was your placement test for?

I quite enjoyed the series too. Turns out, all I needed to understand Danish was to turn on French dubbing! French is fun ;)

Don’t mind me L&M, I’m the inappropriately drunk one butting in on conversations saying stupid and awkward things while I’m inclined to start sobbing in the next instant over French C-level exams seeking reassurance as others take sideways glances at each other wondering who the nutter is. I didn’t have a placement test.. whahahahaha!!

tarvos wrote:The one thing that boggles my mind about Danish is that they manage to make every positive word sound like it's being forced through a very narrow tube. It's like they speak while someone is strangling them. Weird, and it makes it really hard for me to imitate the accent or actually speak Danish because the phonology is... challenging to say the least.

So I keep hearing from others... I’m def. staying away from Danish. Difficult phonology + perfectionism = loss of decades in an attempt to fit in with the natives as one of them.

tarvos wrote:Why am I not doing anything else, you ask? Because I have no energy for active study. Depression sucks the big one. :(

Hope you’re feeling better soon! Rita will cheer you up!

Eh, that goal is too lofty even for me.

I totally understand exam anxiety and I’m pretty sure Tarvos does too.

Tarvos: I’m sure you did great. Your Spanish level is remarkable, and certainly more than they could possibly expect for incoming students. Even if you didn’t do your best you would still well clear the bar.

Peter: You are going to rock that exam, I know it.

And Utrecht is lovely!

I hope so. I think they might be pretty demanding, so we'll see.

Still no results, but I binged on the series Лучше, чем люди. And also read some Chinese and Italian.

I didn't do that much though as I was in the hospital on Wednesday.

Good news: I passed the entrance exam and have been admitted to the interpreting course. The verdict was that I clearly had an aptitude for interpreting and that I well cleared the bar for my Spanish and Dutch language skills!

This means that I am supposed to become an interpreter in one year. Oh yeah, baby! All that Spanish wasn't for nothing! And the best part is that once I'm finished, I can probably go and add another few languages to my list of working languages... so I get to work with my hobby now. Isn't that great?
