Re: Three-Horned Bull from the Netherworld - Tarvos' Log

This week I did start Moby Dick, but since that's in English it's all boring for you. Other than that, I've mostly been occupied with other stuff like STAYIN' ALIVE and not locking myself out of my own house (:/).

However, in honour of Moby, I should probably listen to Mastodon's Leviathan (or at least BLOOD AND THUNDER) a few times this week. Actually I should do that now because Leviathan.

Oh, I started a Korean series called Healer.

I'm feeling less under the weather, but still very tired, so this week I only finished a Korean TV series and read some Moby Dick. Yeah. In English.

200K+ words. 44% are hapax legomenon. So at least a vocab size of 100K?
What really is our passive vocabulary size? Or are we superlative inference engine?

Edit: 8% of those 200K+ -- much more reasonable at 17K words... (44% is of all the unique words used not of the text). Never mind.

Alle raad is welkom!

And other stuff:

my PG 2018 talk (in Spanish)

And I've continued with Moby Dick.

My liver is acting up, so not much here.

It's 1:15 AM and I am still awake, which means I should probably be attempting to sleep, but my sleep schedule is so horribly messed up due to my liver acting up, my immense fatigue, and the continuous itch, that all this means that I can't fall asleep right now.

What I am actually trying to say is that apart from some messaging in foreign tongues, I haven't been able to do anything of note at all. I am so tired that last Friday the powers that be got the better of me and I had to call a friend to stop me from strangling myself with my own bed linen. (Not that I would have succeeded, but the thought sends shivers down my spine). I thought I was recovering, but I cannot really deal with another bout of liver bullshit on top of everything else. I'm getting medicine for this in the next few days, but it will take two more months until they echo my liver.

So there will still be a prolonged period of inactivity here. Thank you for your patience and in the meanwhile, waltz for nobody.

Feeling on the better side after an unexpectedly very social weekend, and today I have to make up for it by watching K-drama, but the fact that some semblance of energy is finally returning means things are looking up. I am still in no state to do formal study, but I am slowly picking up my life again and can handle more than I could before, which is fine.

Still no energy to go full-out study mode, and I don't have the budget for it either, but I have tea, food, and other stuff now. I dropped coffee which has helped immensely.

And watching Korean drama, despite being lazy, is the best I can do for now, along with perhaps extensive reading. The full-on study mode will come later.
