All the best with your studies. If you want to work towards conversation early(some do some don’t and I would if I were to start my journey over), there is a free and very useful to me method. One of our own Eric if I remember correctly housed the Cortina method in various languages with Cortina’s approval on his site. It has the PDF of the course and the audio. Very very valuable in my eyes. It may be of some use to you someday.

I hope the link works. Again, all the best.

Reminder to myself: Perfection is useless and harmful. Just keep moving forward.

Hey thanks for your message, I really do intend to work conversation very early in this attempt so will be taking a look at the course for sure. Thanks for the advice :D

Thanks Bex, I had a read through your log and will be following it with interest, I found the discussion on Clozemaster especially interesting and it has become already a little goldmine for TV recommendations.

kennyaa wrote:So, I had my first two iTalki lessons this week and enjoyed both. Basically covered the first couple units of a beginner's textbook and also a brief introduction in Spanish. I bought a package and booked 5 more lessons over the next 2 weeks so after those I'll post again and comment on whether or not I feel they're helping and how. For now I think I should pick between the two teachers and just stick with one for the next while at least until I'm at the level of being able to hold my own in conversation as I'm going to end up paying to cover the basics two or three times over which while thorough will probably suck the fun out of learning. I should add as well that the sheer convenience of italki can't be overstated, between the price and the time saved commuting to and from the class I can really see myself sticking with it. I didn't mention this in my OP but I was planning to enroll at the Instituto Cervantes in my city, however I just missed the term start and so decided to do a bit over italki with the hope that perhaps I'd be able to take a placement test come the new term in June and see if I could skip the A1 classes altogether and enroll in A2. However, considering the price of the Cervantes courses and the sheer convenience of italki I'll see how I feel come June and might just put that €300 into my italki account instead.

I've done a few Pimsleurs since my first post as well, got up to lesson 18 in unit 1 but I might skip to lessons 28-30 to see if there's anything I draw a blank at.

ITalki is great... it's so convenient. I have tried lots of Spanish tutors and I switch every now and then to a new tutor, which stops me getting bored.
