I just keep a Google sheet with tabs for languages and I add the episode, movie, or season. If I know I'm going to finish a season, I rarely add it until it's over. I don't count things I don't finish for the most part.

Threaten to drop out of the SC and the language gods deliver. Went to Goodwill today and hit the mother lode. Seriously, someone must have moved back to France. Kids books, bande dessinée, chick lit (yay!), mysteries, “Literature”... I left most of the more serious stuff on the shelf, because I have enough serious French books at home that I’m successfully ignoring.

Petit Nicholas! Bridget Jones! Lord of the Rings! And last but so not least:

As a tax attorney, I cannot wait to discover the Belgian idea of life as an IRS Special Agent. I may have actually cackled when I saw this.

The first rule of Fiscal Fight Club: Never sleep with a Taxpayer whom you intend to prosecute for tax evasion. Even (or especially) if she is a contract killer. Seriously, don’t.

That said, there are actually IRS agents with guns, and who am I to say that there aren’t special agents who live in lavish mansions and wear fancy suits whilst pursuing international bank fraud? Could happen, right?

I did really enjoy the artist’s depiction of Lower Manhattan circa 1999. Very well done. I won’t be ordering the rest of the series, but if I stumbled across them at Goodwill? Sure, why not.

I haven’t watched English TV in a year or two, but I’m making an exception to catch up with the last two seasons of The Americans. Added bonus: Russian! I only understood a few words, but I definitely paid more attention to the language than before, and managed to make out a bit of Cyrillic, which was fun.

Out of the blue, Clozemaster now supports Norwegian TTS on iPhone! A very pleasant surprise!

I rarely look at DVDs when we are at Goodwill. All the TV series I’m interested seem to have French subtitles instead of French dubs. Well today I did, and made an exciting observation. Prestige TV may not be dubbed, but fun fluffy movies are! I walked away with lots including Pretty in Pink, Love Actually, Legally Blonde, Bridget Jones Diary, The Devil Wears Prada... All movies I want to watch and own but probably couldn’t justify buying without the French.

Downside is they are all region 1 and my laptop is set on region 2. I watched Le Divorce this afternoon on the regular TV. I feel like I can’t hear anything without my headphones!

You can absolutely change regions! That’s how I have a laptop with Region 2! Alas, you are only allowed so many changes. I live in Region 1 and need my Region 2 player. Hopefully I can get headphones set up with the regular TV soon.

Came home to my husband charging the cordless headphones I haven’t seen since our last apartment. He really loves me! (And really loves when my problems have technical solutions.)
