Increased reading has absolutely meant decreased FSI French... I wish I had time for everything!

I had a big stressful mediation at work all day Tuesday. I was the lead attorney on my side. Good news: We managed to reach a settlement! Yay! Bad news: The anxiety leading up to the mediation, and the decompression afterwards totally squashed my language learning this week. It’s been a huge effort just to keep my Clozemaster streak alive. I’ve read zero pages, and watched a whopping 20 minutes of video...

I actually really enjoy mediation conferences. But I’m autistic. Being “on” at the level I need to be to vigorously represent my client takes *so* much out of me. But hey, the week is finally over, I’m lying on my couch and I can finally say I’m really glad to have a great, challenging wonderful job, even if it’s really, really hard for me sometimes.

Starting to get back in the groove! Did my first full round of Clozemaster in about a week, and watched a whole episode of ER.

Might as well take the opportunity to explain my current Clozemaster regime. For about the first six weeks after I started Russian I was doing 100 new sentences a day in French, German and Russian. And it was intense. I found that even if I did all my Clozemaster during the day I was often too burnt out to do much studying at night. So I cut back to 50 new sentences in all three languages, plus Norwegian. So 200 sentences in total instead of 300. It’s made a huge difference, plus Norwegian is just really fun, even without TTS.

The only downside is I just cut my Russian progress in half. 60 days in, and I’m only 45% through the first 500 words. But honestly, I don’t care. I really enjoy my Russian time. It may be only 15 minutes a day, but it’s a deeply satisfying 15 minutes. I’ll just keep on going, I’ve got nowhere to be.

Wow that's intense use of Clozemaster! So you do your reviews too? I usually do 10-20 new sentences/day+ reviews lol. Way to get 'er done :) That's probably why Russian is taking me a million years.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

I've accepted that I'm never going to do Clozemaster if I think about the reviews so when I do go on (irregularly) I just do a few new sentences. You guys are all so dedicated!

If you do new sentences there are always a few built-in reviews. I don’t do any additional reviews. I don’t need them for French and German fast track, as these languages “stick” pretty well for me. I’m chipping away at the first 500 words in Russian and it’s *so* repetitive as it is that reviews would be redundant.

Not much to report here. Since starting the SC I’ve remembered how much I don’t really enjoy tracking time. We’ll see if I bother to keep it up. Summer is here and with the longer days and extra light, I’ve lost almost all interest in watching TV. We’ll see if reading picks up the slack. If not, there’s always fall and winter to catch up.

I know it is only the first month of the SC, but I have also remembered that I don't like tracking my time. The only tracking I seem to enjoy is using Goodreads.
