Hi Soffia! Thanks very much. I agree, eighty quid for a slight improvement on the free online version does seem a bit extravagant, but ordabok.is sounds like a good bet. I'm assuming "Einstaklingsáskrift í 12 mán. 990 kr." means "individual subscription 12 months for 990 kr.", if so I'll give it a go (although what is 'heimilisáskrift' then? 'home subscription'...?) Hopefully I won't need a kennitala... although the concept of creating an Icelandic alter ego for myself quite appeals
By the way I've been reading through your log for Icelandic tips, with the result that you are now my Isl-learning role model! Use your new-found power with care.

Then again the 'net says he was born in Rimini which is not that far from where my father comes, so that might account for it. It's not a lisp.
Fair enough. I've just had another listen and the first couple of occasions are where he says: 'Lost at sea - Disperso in mare - si legge...' and a few seconds later 'milleottocentonovantacinque'. In the first case it sounds to me like 'leddze' and in the second case 'ottozento ... zinque' (with unvoiced z). Is it just something people sometimes do, or regional, or just him - or is it me?
That's a typical feature of Venetian dialect, as far as I know, but I'm not an expert on Italian.

Ah. A few lines further down it says 'Fyrir heimili og lítil fyrirtæki, 3 tölvur.' Ég skil það nú! Mér finnst það mjög skemmtilegur þegar ég skil eitthvað frá byrjun til enda, þó það er bara sjö orð

I've re-listened to the very beginning half a dozen times and it sounds like "legge" and "milleottocentonovantacinque" and "milleottocentonovantotto" to me.

Thank you - it's really useful to know this sort of thing, it's very hard to look up! Much appreciated.

I hear it too.

Maybe someone else will opine as well.
Your reading sample was a bit choppy but otherwise very good. The only word I noticed to be considerably off was "ansia".

Hæ tarvos! Það er líka mjög gott þegar fólk talar (eða skrifar) íslensku hér með mér, takk fyrir og velkomin til litla logg-ins míns. (veit ekki hvort 'logg' sé islenskt orð... geturðu sagt mér hvernig maður segir það?)

OK, ég hef horft á ordabok.is og ég held að rétta orðið sé 'skrá'. Sem sagt: velkomin til skrárinnar minnar!
