Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
I'm half way through the textbook. I find it less intuitive to use than the previous monolingual one.

Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
2015 was the year of experiments. I hope 2016 is going to be the year of routine. I don't have a plan yet though.
I compiled a Slovene/German parallel text of the Bible for my Kindle, but I somehow need to get started with it. I hope I will have started by February.
I'm almost through the textbook I mentioned. Maybe another week or two. Then it's review time. I really need to spend some time with audio, my listening comprehension is almost non-existent.

I'm through Gremo naprej now. The grammar exercises are OK, but the units are not so helpful for self-learning. Communicative method - go figure.

Doing an audio review of Colloquial Slovene - it goes better than expected. I can't be bothered to do the exercises though.
Youtube finally has a loop function btw. (right-click loop)
only in the HTML5 version I guess - why is the youtube bbcode using flash?

Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
I really should start to read in order to make progress, but my eyes don't want to after all the screen time. Unfortunately it's too early to get anything out of pure listening activities. Need to figure that out somehow ...

Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
So I'm reading the bible ... where the German translation (Luther's) uses past tense, we see mostly present tense indicative and present participle in the Slovene translation. Haven't come across the present participle in any of my textbooks :/
Funny how often stuff is repeated in Moses 1, didn't remember this from reading it in Danish.
One thing that makes me question the age of the Slovene translation is the translation of 'sun' to 'solnce' instead of 'sonce'. Just cross-checked that - it seems like I'm reading a 19th century version.

Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
When I first tried to read aloud Slovene, it sounded more like Serbian to me. Today, it still doesn't really sound like Slovene, but at least not like Serbian either. Baby steps...

Re: od Donave do Drave in Save
During the 6 week challenge I averaged slightly under half an hour a day. That's far from ideal. I somehow need to find a way to use audio effectively in Slovene, which has the potential to easily triple my time with Slovene (by cutting down some other languages...).
Finished Moses 1 btw., on to Moses 2 now.

Finished Mose 2, after having skipped some repetitive sections. So far I don't see any significant learning effect.
