Re: Just a log (English)
I did the last vocabulary test you mentioned and got 81%. English is my natuve language and I read quite a bit, so I reckon 60% is a pretty fantastic score. I'd love to have that kind of Russian vocabulary.

I got 78% my first time and up to 86% on my third try. I don't know what the percentage represents but they are drawing obscure subject specific scientific vocabulary. I had a couple words that were college level botany, one that related to something in coal mining.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

These tests use a lot of words, which are so obscure that practically no one ever uses them. Therefore, even native speakers never have an opportunity to learn them, yet they are included in dictionaries, and therefore exist. You must have seen a lot of such words while doing arealme. In fact, the only time people encounter them is while doing vocabulary size tests

I liked the 'Blake et Mortimer' french cartoons.aaleks wrote:A little update. Sort of...
I've been thinking about French and gathering all kind of materials I could easy find - e.g. Peppa Pig on youtube, etc. ... However, I decided that it's one more reason to make my French-learning about fun even more than my English-learning has been . But, yes, I know, it will take more time as well, but the alternative - if I try to learn French the proper-textbook way, I will get bored, tired, annoyed - a couple weeks and I will quit. So...

Re: Just a log (English)
You could learn French FROM English! Get a French-English dictionary instead of French-Russian. Use Memrise French-English courses for intial vocab loading if you like that. Use Assimil NFWE..
