I think that's a great idea. Cavesa always says to write a bunch, stick it in a drawer, and come back to it days or weeks later to check. I think maybe there is something in doing it days or weeks later that gets missed when you have the instant gratification of a site like Linguee.

Personally I was using the phrase just to mean any or all of the sites or information you get by searching online -- Linguee, wordreference, just googling to see if there are hits for that specific phrase. Occasionally I use Google translate for suggestions on how to say something if I'm stuck or if it's faster than searching a conjugation table and I can make it spit out the right tense. I know some people use the forward and backward translate to catch agreement and smaller errors (write in L2, translate to L1, translate back to L2) but I've personally never done that.
