I know what you mean and I suspect it's a common problem. I read somewhere on this site recently - I'm sorry I can't give the correct attribution because it sounds like very good advice - the idea of reading (or listening to) a sentence in the TL, then waiting a short while, then writing it down again and comparing what you wrote with the original. This strikes me as a great way of identifying gaps in both grammar and vocab.

By the way: 'mark a quote when writing in English' - you clearly know how to use quotation marks to mark quoted speech, so I wonder whether by 'marking a quote' you may be referring to something we just don't do in English. Do you mean a quote as in a set phrase, something people often say?

Oh, and you're most welcome. Russian is second or third on my to-do list of languages I haven't yet studied seriously, so you may one day be able to return the favour!

My listening comprehension comes and goes with practice/fatigue/distraction. I doubt you lost anything that a good TV series or a few YT videos can't fix.

I don't want to be rude but I think you worry too much :) Change happens slowly at higher levels. Your writing has definitely improved over the last year and you seem comfortable writing longer posts. I think this might be a case of "The more we learn, the more we realize we don't know".

But there's no sense crying over every mistake. You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.

As in 'copyright', you mean? No, I've never come across a context where it's usual, certainly not on forums. Don't worry about it!

Yeah, as long as it is in quotation marks, you don't really need to do anything.
