something clicked. in the situation where you have a plural adjective, all the genitive cases collapse into -ih.
i knew that was the case for the plural dative as well, they collapse into -im.

And dative=locative=instrumental in plural generally.

However, once a while you'll see -ima in dat/loc/ins pl. - when the adjective is used without any noun, but the noun is assumed.

Can you give me an example of this?

For example, "to other people" would be:

drugim ljudima

But if you leave the noun, you get "to others":

drugima

Another example would be:

Sa svim prijateljima "with all friends"
Sa svima "with everybody"

Another example is kupaće gaće "swimming trunks". But the noun is usually left out, and gaće is ofc always in plural. So "in swimming trunks" is u kupaćima.

You have more examples here: http://www.easy-croatian.com/2014/11/36.html

ah yea i've definitely seen plenty of that.
i've a fairly good understanding of the basic grammar now, just a matter of reading more and listening more.
maybe one thing i haven't touched at all is the animate/inanimate distinction in adjectives

daily cards as always. i've continued mining sentences from Solyut 7. which is a great movie in fact about a space tragedy. The audio is Russian so I mostly understand nothing (but I do understand a bit. Dobro jutro? crystal clear...) But the subtitles are in Serbian and that's how I follow the movie.

I wanna do that for a lot more movies, its cool way to learn

No I have not changed anything about my method, I've been away and took a bit of a break but I've kept up with my Anki reviews every single day and also kept up the reading various things in BCS.

935 cards. I don't know how to count exactly since I also have a few cards for Georgian and also the various serbian provinces. But whatever. :D

I think my very short term goal for now is to go for 1000 cards.

I just found out NatGeo has a website in srb and they apparently have a serbian edition. Win!! I must find where to get it.
I have somewhat of a collection of magazines in serbian now, they are everywhere i go.

Was a really good day, I am happy. I got a lot of immersion done and actually managed to talk to someone today, mostly about socks (don't ask, situational thing :D ).
I am definitely starting to understand this language, even if it remains mysterious most of the time.
