E realmente gostei Rubem Fonseca, vou tentar pegar outros livros dele.

Re: Aledda's Log - Road to N3

Postby aledda » Tue May 22, 2018 1:13 am

Yesterday I realized (after looking at the calendar), that I had exactly 28 weeks left for the JLPT (since here in Uruguay the only available exam date is in December).
As I mentioned in a previous message, this year I want to take the N3 level. And while I am studying Japanese every day, until yesterday I haven't planned the study hours and activities focused on the exam.
I started to make a weekly plan with goals, including the review of everything I have learned so far, the plan to study the lessons that I haven't finished of みんなの日本語中級 and 日本語総まとめ N3, and of course the practice of kanji & vocabulary (JapaneseClass), grammar (Bunpro), JLPT tests (Jtest4you) and listening!
I still have to adjust some details, but as soon as I finish the plan I will update this post.

I have a lot to do from today until December 2, but if I stick to the plan, I think I have more than enough time to be prepared.

And today I have to update the 6WC post for the 3rd week = half the challenge!

-- Random rambling alert --

On Tuesday, during our class, a friend of mine, with whom I prepared the N4 and planned to prepare the N3 together, told me that she wasn't sure she would take the N3 this year. I am independent enough (and obviously old enough) to not need someone else to take an exam with me. But, I would have liked to know that during these months until the exam, I could count on her to practice or ask each other questions/doubts, knowing that we were on the same boat. I mean, I know I can do it anyway (asking her things or to practice with me), but I don't want to bother her all the time knowing that she doesn't have that goal.

Besides, that makes me wonder if I have enough time to prepare well the N3 until December or I had set a goal that is too ambitious. We both have a similar level: we both have a somewhat weak level of listening, we are both quite good in kanji and vocabulary, in grammar she is a bit better than me (as she remembers the rules better and I tend to answer "by feeling" instead of what a certain rule says), and in reading maybe I am a little better (because I try to read different things every day). That's why I was surprised when she told me she didn't think she had enough time to prepare it (considering that I work full-time, and that this year she is not studying at university nor working).

I told her that I already had a plan with deadlines and goals to be met during these months, and she told me it was a good idea, so I suggested her that we should try to follow that plan, so that in August (which is the deadline for the inscription to the exam) we can decide if during those 3-4 months until December we can dedicate ourselves only to practice.

I don't want her to feel compelled to take the exam, because I know she suffers from anxiety attacks and I don't want something we do because we like (study Japanese) to give her more anxiety, but at the same time I want to encourage her to do it, because I don't think she would do it alone next year.

-- end of rambling --

Regarding the plan itself (which I haven't yet posted), I already reached the goals for this week (and I still have the whole weekend to do more!), so i think I'm doing ok. I should not trust this as a sign that I'm going to finish reviewing everything in two weeks, since the first lessons are so basic that they do not require much revision, but I'll try to do as much as possible at the beginning. You never know what may happen in the future or at what point laziness and boredom will appear.

And I decided to watch パディントン発4時50分~寝台特急殺人事件~ (4.50 from Paddington ) and 大女優殺人事件~鏡は横にひび割れて~ (The Mirror Crack'd from Side to Side) without subs. I love Agatha Christie and I think I could enjoy any adaptation of her work.
From what I read, they are long "episodes" (almost 3 hours), so I think the best would be to watch them for 15-20 minutes at a time. That way, I wouldn't force myself to watch the whole thing at once, at least at the beginning. If I can do it for longer, the better.

Re: Aledda's Log

Well, my laptop decided to stop working two weeks ago so my plans for the last 12-14 days completely changed.

I still managed to study from different sources: I took my external hard drive to work, and copied some books and audio to my phone so I could use those, I use almost every app on my phone, and did a lot of watching from my pseudo-smart tv and reading.

Luckily I think I "rescued" most of the information from the disk of my computer, so I think I have the spreadsheet for the challenges "intact". I have a new disk, which means right now I'm re-installing everything (so boring...), checking if all my data is there, and last but not least, making a new backup of everything.

I'll be back soon updating language-related things... I just wanted to let you know that I'm still alive, and to give you a friendly reminder to backup your data/files/whatever you consider important/useful/etc.
