Well, crap, I didn't realize until just now that Deutschlandfunk has transcripts for a *lot* of their podcasts up on their site. I was just listening to the audio without even knowing that the transcripts existed.

Gsbod and I plugged it in two different places in mid August/Sept of 2015 :) Oh how time flies! Amusingly I was just listening to one of their stories yesterday evening after not listening to them for a few months.

I think "das Gift" (poison) might be my favorite German-English false friend so far.

"groß" was an amusing German-French one. "Wie groß sind Sie?" != "How fat are you?"

Off to Italy in a few hours! I'll be landing in Rome somewhere in the 7:00 to 8:00 AM range (local time).

Just spoke some French at work. I heard a guy speaking an unknown language on the phone and when he had finished his call, I asked him what language he was speaking, and he replied, "Yoruba," but then said that he spoke French as well because he had lived in Paris for over a decade before moving here. So I jumped at the chance.
