Re: Chinese/Japanese road to hell
Nice to see a countrywoman learning Japanese, too! <3
I know the feeling. I learned some German at school and forgot almost all of it because I haven't had reasons to use it (apart from a brief stint at a hospital, when a group of German ladies came by and I got a German helper <3)
some I probably should learn for pragmatic reasons (hello there, German...)

Are you me? I studied German for 9 years at school but I remember very little now (well, I have some passive understanding, but not much else) and I regret it a lot. I live like 2 hours from the German border and I used to live even closer, so it'd be really useful to know German, I think.
PS.

Wow it's really great that you passed the Japanese N2 ^^. I've been learning Japanese for almost 8 years but haven't taken the JLPT before. Definitely not that skilled at it yet, though. I'm also wanting to learn Chinese, but have little time for it x-x...
I'll be following your language log, I think it's really interesting!!
